Washington, DC – This afternoon, House Republicans passed a tax cut for the wealthy masquerading as a health care bill. The AHCA will gut coverage for pre-existing conditions and cause millions of Americans to lose their health insurance, all to give wealthy Americans a tax cut. Healthcare reform should be focused on improving the lives of all Americans, not the bank accounts of a few millionaires and billionaires – wealthy Americans don’t need another tax cut. This bill shows not only the misplaced priorities of those who voted to pass the AHCA, it reveals a profound disregard for the American people’s healthcare needs that comes at the expense of the health and lives of millions of everyday Americans.
