Brittany Newton

Candidate for N.C. House District 46

Brittany Newton is an 8-year Army veteran, certified nursing assistant, tax preparer, HR assistant, and proud mother of two children, ages 7 and 9. Like many working families in rural North Carolina, Brittany has worked multiple jobs at once to support her household—some weeks logging nearly 80 hours just to keep up with rising costs and provide stability for her children.

For the past three years, Brittany has been a leader within The Deciders, a grassroots organizing group in Columbus County advocating for fair taxes, livable wages, and an economy that works for everyone—not just those at the top. During that time, Brittany and fellow organizers repeatedly requested meetings with their state representative to discuss the challenges facing working families, but those requests went unanswered for three years.

Now, Brittany is running for North Carolina House District 46 to challenge the incumbent who refused to listen to working families. Grounded in service and lived experience, Brittany believes leadership should be accessible, accountable, and willing to challenge an economic system rigged in favor of the wealthy—so working people can thrive, not just survive.
