Passing legislation on the federal, state, and local level is the critical “last mile” of the Patriotic Millionaires’ fight to ensure that the country’s political economy meets the needs of regular people, not just millionaires. We focus our attention on tax policy, minimum wage and democracy reform. You can read more about our endorsement process and criteria here.
Federal Policy Endorsements
WHIP THE VOTE!
Our highest priority legislation. These bills align with our core values and will fundamentally advance our goals. Patriotic Millionaires will support these bills with the full force of the organization’s resources and membership.
FOR THE PEOPLE ACT
A sweeping democracy reform package that lifts up the voices of everyday Americans and reduces the power of the wealthy and corporations to influence our political system.
RAISE THE WAGE ACT
The Raise the Wage Act would fundamentally reset the American economy and guarantee economic stability by raising the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour.
CARRIED INTEREST FAIRNESS ACT
Wealthy fund managers pay lower tax rates than teachers and nurses. This bill would stop them from “getting away from murder” and make them pay their fair share.
The wealthiest Americans need to pay their fair share in taxes. The Millionaires Surtax is a simple yet powerful way to make America’s economy and political system more equal.
TAX EXCESSIVE CEO PAY ACT
Corporations give their CEOs millions while their workers make poverty wages. This pioneering new tax promises to make corporations even out the pay scale – or pay up.
Bills we enthusiastically support.
FOR THE 99.8% ACT
Replaces our weak estate tax with a dynasty prevention tax that prevents plutocrats from amassing obscene wealth.
NO TAX BREAKS FOR OUTSOURCING ACT
Ends tax breaks for corporations that move jobs overseas, and closes loopholes allowing multinational corporations to dodge paying their share.
Worthy of Discussion
Legislation and ideas (that may or may not be formal legislation) that Patriotic Millionaires members believe show promise and ought to be further developed and debated.
SEN. WARREN’S WEALTH TAX
A 2% tax on fortunes worth more than $50 million and a 3% tax on fortunes worth more than $1 billion.
SEN. WYDEN’S CAPITAL GAINS PLAN
A plan to tax capital gains at the same rate as ordinary income and close loopholes by taxing unrealized capital gains – not just at sale.
State-level Policy Endorsements
State legislative priorities are decided by members from that state through a similar process to our federal endorsements.
