Patriotic Millionaires: Gerrymandered Districts are Antithetical to the Ideals of Our Democracy

Tuesday, February 20

; -webkit-text-stroke-width:0px”>Philadelphia, PA – This afternoon, in response to yesterday’s newly redrawn congressional maps handed down by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and President Trump’s statement about the map, the Patriotic Millionaires of Pennsylvania along with the national organization released the following statement.

“Mr. Trump, leave our democracy alone. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s newly-drawn congressional map is a long-overdue step towards fixing the partisan, unfairly gerrymandered division of the Pennsylvanian electorate. Your suggestion that state Republicans continue their campaign of bad faith by fighting this map is absurd and antithetical to everything our country stands for. When the game has been rigged in your favor for decades a level playing field may seem unfair, but ask any of the thousands of disenfranchised Pennsylvanians whether this map is an improvement and you’ll get your answer.

This court’s decision, and this map, should serve as an example to the rest of the nation. Blatantly partisan gerrymandering must stop, and states likes Wisconsin, and North Carolina should follow suit.”
