Patriotic Millionaire John Driscoll to Meet with Macron to Discuss Inclusive Capitalism Ahead of G7 Summit

“Actions speak louder than words: in order to restore faith in capitalism, we must demand more from our business leaders.”

Paris, France– This weekend, as part of the G7 summit in Biarritz, business leaders from around the world will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron to announce the launch of an Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) initiative called the Business for Inclusive Growth (B4IG).

Joined by executives of leading global firms, including JP Morgan, Unilever and Ikea, B4IG will also include John Driscoll, the CEO of Carecentrix, a Connecticut based healthcare company, and a member of the Patriotic Millionaires.

As CEO of Carecentrix, the smallest company invited by the OECD to participate, John has already walked the walk when it comes to inclusive prosperity. In 2014, he froze salaries of 20 Carecentrix executives (himself included) in order to raise hourly minimum wage for 500 employees to $15, years before the idea had garnered mainstream attention.

Here’s a statement from John Driscoll, CEO of Carecentrix and member of the Patriotic Millionaires:

“The Business for Inclusive Growth initiative is a big step in the right direction, and I’m privileged and proud to be part of it, both as CEO of Carecentrix and as a member of the Patriotic Millionaires, who advocate for business’ role in building a more equitable economy. Actions speak louder than words: in order to restore faith in capitalism, we must demand more from our business leaders. Corporate leaders will need to make relatively modest, but critical, changes so their employees and the communities they belong to can participate in companies’ financial successes. Capitalism has to work well for everyone in order for it to sustain itself.”

The B4IG pledge comes the same week as the announcement by the Business Roundtable that driving shareholder value should no longer be the sole purpose of corporations. Taken together, these efforts indicate a growing recognition in the business community that they have a responsibility to promote a more responsible, stable form of capitalism.
