    “Utter Horseshit”

“Congressional Republicans have gone on a deficit-fueled tax cut rampage and now they have the gall to act like it’s time for the rest of America to tighten their belts.”

Washington, DC – Today, as the House of Representatives prepares to vote on a balanced budget amendment, Stephen Prince, the Vice Chair of the Patriotic Millionaires and the founder and CEO of Card Marketing Services, released the following statement:

“Let’s not mince our words: the Balanced-Budget Amendment the House is voting on today is utter horseshit.

Congressional Republicans have gone on a deficit-fueled tax cut rampage, cutting taxes for corporations and rich people like me by $1.9 trillion, and now they have the gall to act like it’s time for the rest of America to tighten their belts? Like we ‘can’t afford’ to support the poor and elderly through Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, but we can afford to give billionaires and wealthy members of Congress a massive tax cut? Give me a break.

Their goal is to convince us that everyone in need of government assistance are all lazy, worthless people. The truth, however, is that most people who need and depend on our government are hard-working people who are in many cases sick, retired, or both. In the Republican effort to get at what they consider to be the ‘lazies,’ they are going to punish everyone. They can’t possibly think their voters are this stupid, that they won’t see the shameless hypocrisy staring them in the face.

At what point are we, as true-blooded, deeply committed American patriots going to stop seeing Republicans in both houses of Congress as the well-intentioned, fiscally wise party that they used to be for what they really are – the greedy, pay no taxes, take from the poor, protect the rich (people like me) party they’ve really become. They haven’t always been like this. Where did they go wrong?”
