Patriotic Millionaires Endorse Eight 2020 Congressional Candidates
The group marks the 2-year anniversary of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act passing Congress by rolling out endorsements of Members of Congress with strong progressive stances on taxes
Washington, DC – This morning, the Patriotic Millionaires, a collection of high net worth Americans united in their concern about the destabilizing concentration of money and power in America, announced their endorsement of 8 members of Congress running for reelection in 2020. This distinguished group comes from a list of the organization’s 2018 endorsees who challenged entrenched incumbents who voted for the egregious Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, a blatant giveaway to the donor class that almost exclusively benefited millionaires, billionaires, and corporations.
Now, on the anniversary of that vote, these newly-minted members of Congress spend their days fighting inequality and building a more prosperous country for all Americans. For their tireless work on behalf of working Americans, the following candidates have earned the Patriotic Millionaires’ endorsement in the 2020 cycle:
Rep. TJ Cox (CA-21)
Rep. Josh Harder (CA-10)
Rep. Katie Porter (CA-45)
Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03)
Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06)
Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03)
Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32)
Rep. Jennifer Wexton (VA-10)
The Patriotic Millionaires will be declining to re-endorse Rep. Anthony Brindisi (NY-22), as his time in Congress demonstrates an unsatisfactory commitment to our policy priorities.
Further endorsements are planned for candidates for federal office who will fight for fair taxes, a livable minimum wage, and equal political representation.
“It’s easy to endorse these members of Congress who have made the right decisions for all Americans,” said Morris Pearl, Chair of the Patriotic Millionaires, and former managing director at BlackRock. “These members understand that when every American can earn a living wage, all of us will benefit.”
“I am proud to receive the endorsement of the Patriotic Millionaires for my re-election campaign. The Trump Administration’s policies continue to widen the wealth gap benefitting billionaires and corporations while burdening working families” said Congresswoman Katie Porter (CA-45). “My focus since coming to Congress has been to fight for the middle class and working families, and I am honored to continue this fight alongside the Patriotic Millionaires.”
“We have to get things done for working families in the Central Valley and across this country” said Congressman Josh Harder (CA-10). “A large part of that is making our tax system fairer – I’m ready to work with partners like Patriotic Millionaires to get it across the finish line.”
“I have zero doubt these candidates will find success next November,” said Erica Payne, Founder and President of the Patriotic Millionaires. “71% of American say the economy is rigged. They’re right. So when leaders in Congress actually address those concerns, committing to tax fairness and higher wages for working people, not only do they earn our endorsement, they will win.”
