A Closer Look: Join us at “HOW TO WIN, Tax the Rich, and Save the World.”
After teasing you a bit last week about our 2026 Spring Symposium, “HOW WE WIN, Tax the Rich, and Save the World,” we’re thrilled to officially bring you into the fold and invite you to join us virtually for what we think will be one of the best events of the year. In just five days, you’ll be able to stream an event unlike any other.
It’s the beginning of a new month, and that means we’re seeing new reports about the job numbers from March 2026. The headlines say that unemployment dropped from 4.4% in February to 4.3% in March. That is good and welcomed news. But, it is not the full story and I want to explain a bit more about what is behind that number.
Seeing how today is also April Fools’ Day, we thought we’d have a little fun with the holiday—with a Patriotic Millionaires’ twist, of course. Unlike most, we aren’t spending the day cooking up elaborate pranks to play on our loved ones or coworkers. Instead, we created a list of our top five “April Tax Fools.”
A Closer Look: Demystifying the Working Americans’ Tax Cut Act
My name is Holli Woodings, and I’m the Vice President of Government Affairs here at Patriotic Millionaires where I oversee our legislative, policy, and political work. Previously I’ve served as the President of Boise City Council, as a State Representative in the Idaho Legislature, and as a Senior Fellow at the National Institute for Civil Discourse here in Washington, DC.
A Closer Look: Extreme wealth is a global problem. We have global solutions.
If money knows no borders, it shouldn’t be surprising that neither does our message. It’s universal and relevant to countries across the globe. That’s why each fall and spring, it’s important to us that we take our message to some of the world’s brightest economic and financial leaders during the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF).
A Closer Look: The real culprit behind the Jimmy Kimmel fiasco is extreme inequality
It’s easy to point the finger at President Trump for all of the blatant attacks we’ve seen in recent days on the press and the right to free speech. We cannot ignore, however, that the real culprit behind the assaults on our democracy that we’re witnessing isn’t Trump, but rather the extreme concentration of wealth in America that enables him.
A Closer Look: The Equal Tax Act is exactly what America needs
Yesterday, we teased that we would be sharing a forthcoming solution to the way our tax code unfairly pits our money against your sweat. Today, we’re happy to share what we’ve been working on to reach this very important moment.
A Closer Look: Here’s how lopsided the GOP megabill really is
Republicans have had a tough time this summer selling their big, ugly megabill to their constituents. But if people actually knew the full extent to which the bill benefits rich people like us, they’d doubtless find the task tougher, or flat-out impossible.
A Closer Look: Attacks on ballot measures are attacks on democracy
There is a lot of buzz these days about gerrymandering, what with Texas House Democrats risking arrest and fleeing their state in protest over an aggressively redrawn congressional map that favors Republicans. But there’s another, equally nefarious attack on voting rights and democracy going on in America right now that’s flying under the radar: the direct and indirect suppression of citizen-initiated ballot measures.
A Closer Look: Our definition of patriotism is different than Trump’s
We recognize in times like this, it can be challenging to feel patriotic when faux patriotism is being used to tout tax cuts for the rich at the expense of the most vulnerable in our communities. That is why we here at Patriotic Millionaires would like to use both this Independence Day and this week’s Closer Look to reflect on what patriotism actually means, and to remind ourselves why we call ourselves the “Patriotic Millionaires.”
A Closer Look: Honor Juneteenth by ending the subminimum wage
Happy Juneteenth! Today marks the fourth year that the United States has celebrated Juneteenth as an official federal holiday, which commemorates the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation on June 19, 1865 in Galveston, Texas at the end of the Civil War.
Historically, unions have always played an essential role in stabilizing economies and ensuring that businesses properly share the fruits that their workers’ labor produces. But, over the last four months, it’s become clear that unions are also integral to stabilizing democracies and spreading political power among the masses too.
A Closer Look: Trump’s Unprecedented Self-Enrichment
We talk all the time about how President Trump bends over backwards to help boost the bottom lines of his billionaire friends. It’s about time that we discussed how Trump is moving mountains to benefit one billionaire in particular, and his favorite billionaire at that: himself.
A Closer Look: Don’t fall for the idea that the rich pay their fair share
When you’re in a war and expecting your enemy to attack, sometimes you have to launch a preemptive strike. That’s exactly what we’re going to do with conservatives’ ideas on tax fairness now that we’re fully engaged in the 2025 tax war.
A Closer Look: Philanthropy can’t save the world. Taxes can.
You may think that Bill Gates is doing the world an enormous service by giving away nearly all of his fortune over the next twenty years. But the truth is that he’d be doing us all an even greater service if he spent a portion of his remaining time and money doing everything he can to change our country’s political economy to ensure that wealth isn’t concentrated in the hands of so few people and that, in the future, no single individual is able to attain his level of wealth and power in the first place.
