It takes months of planning to put together our Spring Symposium, yet it always seems to pass by in the blink of an eye. Even though last week went by far too quickly, we’re still riding a high from our 2026 Spring Symposium last week!
If you missed it, fear not: you can watch a full recording of our “HOW WE WIN, Tax the Rich, and Save the World.” event from last Tuesday on our YouTube channel. You can also check out other highlights from the Symposium on our Instagram page and by reading our Closer Look from last week.
Over the last two months, in addition to preparing for our Symposium, we were also helping to introduce the Working Americans’ Tax Cut Act and the Equal Tax Act, two pieces of legislation modeled after our very own MONEY Agenda. With so many exciting developments lately, it hasn’t left us much time to properly highlight the incredible media moments we’ve had, particularly for things outside of our Symposium and two bills. For this week’s Closer Look, we’d like to give those media moments the spotlight they fully deserve.
As you’ll see, our media hits take a variety of forms: articles that mention or quote us; TV, radio, podcast, and social media interviews with our members and staff; profile pieces of our group; and opinion pieces written by our members and staff. Some hits are about our Symposium and two bills, but many outlets highlighted our state-level work (particularly in New York and Washington) and also our mission more generally.
We’re thrilled to see the Patriotic Millionaires reaching bigger audiences and getting more attention. Let’s dive in!
The New York Times (March 2, 2026)—“Welcome to Wyoming, the Frontier of America’s New Gilded Age”
We did tell you about this hit a few days after it came out, but wanted to spotlight it again for good measure. Two of our members, Scott Ellis and Margot Snowdon, were quoted in this piece in The New York Times, which used Teton County, Wyoming as a microcosm of sorts to highlight the harms that befall local communities when the ultra-rich come in and take over.
United SHE Stands podcast (March 3, 2026)—“These Patriotic Millionaires Want to Tax the Rich and Pay the People”
One of our members, Ashley Craig, appeared as a guest on the United SHE Stands podcast. In conversation with hosts Sara Petrie and Ashley Kindsvatter, Ashley spoke about how inequality has grown so large in America over the last few decades and what the Patriotic Millionaires are doing to try and fix it.
Left of Lansing Podcast (March 5, 2026)—“Tax The Rich, Pay The Working Class w/ Erica Payne of Patriotic Millionaires”
Our President and Founder, Erica Payne, was a featured guest on the Left of Lansing podcast in Michigan. Erica spoke with the host, Pat Johnston, about our mission to tax the rich and pay the people. Erica also highlighted how our MONEY Agenda could help stabilize and reinvigorate our economy and the ways in which the Epstein files show how the ultra-rich work to shield each other from accountability.
Bloomberg (March 6, 2026)—“A Sliver of NYC’s Wealthy Has Unusual Rallying Cry: Tax Me More”
Bloomberg profiled Erica and several of our NYC-based members—including Morris Pearl (our Chair and a former Managing Director at BlackRock), Abigail Disney (Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker), Jeffrey Gural (real estate developer and owner of Manhattan’s Flatiron Building)—and their support for Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s push to tax the rich in the Big Apple.
Business Insider (March 8, 2026)—“I’m a millionaire living in Washington. I’m happy to pay more in taxes—it helps everybody.”
One of our Washington state members, Victoria Hattersley, worked with Jordan Pandy at Business Insider to write this as-told-to essay. Victoria’s essay details her background as a person of wealth and her rationale for supporting Washington’s new Millionaires’ Tax. You may remember that Victoria also filmed a video about her support for the tax for our social media channels, which you can view here.
The New York Times (March 11, 2026)—“Raise Taxes on the Rich? These Rich New Yorkers Are All for It.”
Just a few days after Bloomberg profiled some of our NYC-based members and their support for Mayor Mamdani’s tax-the-rich agenda, The New York Times did the same. The piece included quotes from four of our members—Craig Kaplan, Marissa Hersh, Marc Baum, and Andrew Tobias—and mentioned Morris Pearl and Abigail Disney. The piece also highlighted our open letter to world leaders at Davos, signed by over 400 millionaires from 24 countries, calling on them to tax the super rich.
Associated Press (March 16, 2026)—“Progressive states revive push to tax the rich as wealth disparity deepens across the US”
The Associated Press filmed Patriotic Millionaire Chuck Collins at his home in Vermont. Chuck was heavily involved in the movement to pass the 2022 Massachusetts Fair Share Amendment, and spoke in support of similar efforts currently underway in states across the country. You can read the AP piece with quotes of Chuck’s interview here, or watch Chuck’s interview in the video below:
Fast Company (March 19, 2026)—“Washington state has no income tax. It just passed one for millionaires that could be a model for other states”
One of our Washington members, Judy Pigott, was quoted by Fast Company over her support for the state’s new Millionaires’ Tax—and emphasized that she won’t leave her beloved home of Seattle because of it.
Fortune (March 19, 2026)—“1 in 5 Americans thinks it’s ‘morally wrong’ to be a billionaire—Gen Z in particular finds it distasteful”
It’s been three months since we released our open letter to world leaders at Davos, but people are still buzzing about it, including Fortune. The fact that millionaires and billionaires feel the same way as the majority of the public in being concerned about wealth inequality and wanting to tax the rich is definitely eye-catching!
Axios (April 5, 2026)—“Dems eyeing 2028 want huge tax cuts – but big hikes for the rich”
We mentioned this one two weeks ago, but are including it again just for good measure. Erica was quoted in this Axios piece, which touched on the criticism that the Working Americans’ Tax Cut Act has received in recent weeks. Erica didn’t pull punches about the reaction to the bill, either: “Holy cow…did we set off a sh*tstorm.”
More Perfect Union (April 8, 2026)—“NYC multimillionaire’s shocking plea”
More Perfect Union filmed a now-viral video of our Chair, Morris Pearl, walking around the streets of New York talking about why he wants New York legislators to raise his and other millionaires’ taxes. In Morris’ words, a tax increase “…wouldn’t change what I do. It wouldn’t change where I eat. It wouldn’t change where I go on vacation.” Watch the video below:
Katie Phang (April 11, 2026)—“FED UP Millionaires CRUSH Trump In CONGRESS”
Erica rejoined Katie Phang on her show to discuss the Working Americans’ Tax Cut Act and Equal Tax Act. You may remember that she first appeared on Katie’s show back in November. Watch Erica’s interview with Katie below:
Mother Jones (April 14, 2026)—“The American Experiment Has Been Infected by Oligarchs”
Our Senior Vice President for Tax Policy, Bob Lord, authored this guest essay for Mother Jones. He writes about what he calls the “oligarchy virus” and the way it has infected the American tax system so that it now guarantees extreme wealth concentration. The phrase is already catching fire: Representative Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) mentioned it yesterday at a congressional hearing about the way the tax code enables corporate greed.
TIME (April 15, 2026)—“‘It Beats Pitchfork Rebellions and the Guillotine:’ Why These Super-Rich Americans Are Asking For Higher Taxes”
In this piece for TIME, Philip Elliott covered our Symposium. He spoke about our mobile billboard, our “HOW WE WIN” event, and our Tax Day Lobby Day on the Hill. He quoted Scott Ellis and Morris Pearl, and also included snippets from his interview with Chuck Collins about the way public opinion is moving in our favor.
Business Insider (April 16, 2026)—“Live in Miami or Silicon Valley with a luxury apartment in New York? Get ready for a new tax”
Morris Pearl spoke with Business Insider about his support for New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s new pied-à-terre tax proposal, which would enact a yearly surcharge on any New York City residential property worth $5 million or more that is not the owner’s primary residence.
The Times of London (April 17, 2026)—“They’re New York millionaires—and they want more taxes”
The Times of London is just about as big as it gets in terms of global coverage. Journalist Olivia Empson covered our Spring Symposium for this profile piece about our group. She spoke with Erica Payne, Morris Pearl, and Abigail Disney. Actress Cynthia Nixon also had kind things to say about the Patriotic Millionaires in the piece as well. A primary focus of the article is our support for NYC Mayor Mamdani’s tax-the-rich agenda.
CBS New York/The Point with Marcia Kramer (April 19, 2026)—“Full interview with Patriotic Millionaires Chair Morris Pearl”
Morris Pearl spoke with Marcia Kramer of CBS New York about why our members want to see their taxes raised and also the potential pied-à-terre tax in New York City. Watch Morris’ full interview below:
The New York Times (April 19, 2026)—“Are Democrats Becoming a Party of Tax Cuts?”
The New York Times clearly can’t get enough of Patriotic Millionaires these days! This time, Andrew Duehren quoted Erica on the Working Americans’ Tax Cut Act. In Erica’s words, “The status quo left lost and is going to continue to lose until they climb down from the ivory tower and come up with real solutions. There’s an efficiency to the tax cut that does not exist in any government program, however laudable.”

One of our main goals at Patriotic Millionaires is to simply get people in America and around the world talking about our mission. We wholeheartedly believe that, just by getting our message out there and changing people’s minds about inequality, we will do wonders in terms of mobilizing people to demand change from lawmakers.
With our immense media impact, we feel comfortable saying we’re making great progress in achieving this goal. The job’s not done yet, of course, but we’re thrilled that our members and message are getting the publicity we need to make meaningful change.
