Patriotic Millionaire to Speak at Working People’s Day of Action Rally in New York City
New York, NY – At 11:00am ET tomorrow, Morris Pearl, Chair of the Patriotic Millionaires and former Managing Director at Blackrock Inc., will join thousands of working people at Foley Square in New York City for a Working People’s Day of Action. They will gather to demand an end to the rigged economy and stand up for the freedom of working people to come together and fight for decent pay, affordable health care, quiality schools, and a secure future.

Mr. Pearl will be speaking to the assembled crowd about the importance of unions, the injustice of the GOP tax bill’s giveaway to the rich, and the need for a higher minimum wage. See below for an excerpt from his prepared remarks:
“My message to fellow millionaires is: Stop using your money to buy more political influence, and stop using your political influence for your short term financial greed.
We need to rebuild our country. We need to rebuild Houston and rebuild Puerto Rico, and rebuild our crumbling infrastructure. We need to fund Medicare and Medicaid so our oldest citizens and our poorest citizens can feel some level of basic security. We need to build our education system so our citizens can compete in a changing economy.
And most importantly, we need to re-build the trust between our citizens and between our citizens and our government. And that trust will not be rebuilt – it cannot be rebuilt – until the richest people in this country start to live up to their responsibilities. And those responsibilities include giving workers a seat at the negotiating table and real living wages.”
