Patriotic Millionaires Join President Biden for White House Celebration of the IRA

“Democrats were able to accomplish something great for the American people by passing the IRA.” 

Washington, DC – A month after Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) into law, the White House will today celebrate the passage of one of the most significant climate, healthcare, and tax reform packages this country has seen in decades. Democrats intend to use today’s event as a way to highlight their ability to get significant legislation done in an increasingly stalled Congress.

In response, Morris Pearl, Chairman of the Patriotic Millionaires, released the following statement:

“The passage of the IRA has been the biggest win for tax fairness we’ve seen in decades and is cause for enormous celebration. Its provisions for tax increases on the rich and increased enforcement against wealthy tax cheats are all significant steps toward achieving economic fairness.

This achievement marks the beginning of an era in which the economic systems that allow wealth to consolidate at the top are being addressed head-on for the first time in decades.

Democrats were able to accomplish something great for the American people by passing the IRA. Today’s celebration is well-deserved, but it should also come with the realization that we’ve got a long way to go. This isn’t ‘mission accomplished,’ it’s the first step in a long fight for economic justice.
