“Empty Words for an American People That Need Action”
Washington, DC – This evening, in response to President Trump’s State of the Union address, the Chair of the Patriotic Millionaires Morris Pearl, former Managing Director at BlackRock, Inc., issued the following statement:
“Tonight’s address was more of the same from a President who shown little interest in making America great again for anyone but himself and his rich friends. The President’s words, actions, and policies in the last year have done virtually nothing to help the average American, and his attempts to claim responsibility for our continued economic growth are ridiculous. The GOP tax bill was a handout to multinational corporations and the rich, not a massive economic stimulus, and American workers know that they’re getting the short end of the stick.
Reading a single speech from a teleprompter isn’t enough to flip the script. All the President offered tonight were empty words for an American people that need action. If President Trump wants to be presidential, he could start by raising wages for the millions of Americans making less than $15 an hour, many of whom voted for him expecting a change in Washington.”
