Trump Administration’s 2021 Budget Lays Out “Cruel Priorities” Favoring the Rich at the Expense of the Poor
“Call me crazy, but I don’t want a couple hundred thousand dollars in tax savings at the expense of millions of people.”
Washington, DC – Yesterday, President Trump released his 2021 fiscal year budget. The budget calls for signfiicant cuts to domestic spending, primarily social safety net programs, and also projects extending the administration’s signature 2017 tax cuts through the end of the decade. In response, Stephen Prince, founder and CEO of Card Marketing Services Inc. and Vice-Chair of the Patriotic Millionaires, issued the following statement:
“The White House budget isn’t just some boring fiscal plan drawn up by accountants, but a political statement intended to show Americans just where the administration’s priorities lie for the year ahead. And the Trump administration has made it clear today just how cruel those priorities are. This budget proposes trillions of dollars in draconian cuts to healthcare, education, SNAP, Social Security, and other social safety net programs. Why? Just to maintain the $1.7 trillion in handouts that the Trump tax cuts gave to corporations and rich folks like me.
Sadly, it seems the President says one thing to working class voters to get his poll numbers up, but behind closed doors, his only REAL concern is throwing more money at wealthy people like me. Call me crazy, but I don’t want a couple hundred thousand dollars in tax savings at the expense of millions of people. I look forward to Congress rejecting this inhumane proposal.”
