Patriotic Millionaires Applaud Senate Dems, Slam Sinema with DC Billboard

“Bravo to 49 of the 50 Senators who voted today to end an era of rampant criminal tax abuse. . . Shame on Kyrsten Sinema, who had to be dragged kicking and screaming across the finish line, carrying water for her private equity overloads to the bitter end.”

Washington, DC – Today, Senate Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act. In response, the Patriotic Millionaires are running a mobile billboard around the US Capitol (with stops at the American Investment Council and the Carlyle Group). 

The billboard thanks Democratic Senators who stood up for American taxpayers by crafting a bill to stop tax cheats and corporate tax shenanigans and attacks Senator Kyrsten Sinema for her persistent opposition to raising taxes on the rich and her insistence on killing even modest changes to the carried interest loophole.

 In response to today’s vote, Erica Payne, founder and President of the Patriotic Millionaires, released the following statement:

 “Bravo to 49 of the 50 Senators who voted today to end an era of rampant criminal tax abuse at the highest levels of American society and American business. In a journey of 1,000 miles, this is an impressive first step. 

Shame on Senator Kyrsten Sinema, who had to be dragged kicking and screaming across the finish line, carrying water for her private equity overloads to the bitter end.

Thanks in large part to Sinema’s obstruction, there’s more work to be done, but the Inflation Reduction Act is a monumental step in the right direction.

    • Companies who report over $1 billion in profit to shareholders and no taxable income to Uncle Sam will finally pay (some of) what they owe this country.
    • Criminal tax cheats who steal up to $1 trillion of the country’s money every year will finally have a police force capable of stopping them. 

We particularly thank Majority Leader Schumer and Senator Joe Manchin. Manchin insisted all along he wanted tax reform and ultimately he delivered. Today Senate Democrats accomplished something truly meaningful for American taxpayers who are sick of doing their part while billionaires and corporate tax cheats steal the country’s money. 

Lying, cheating, tax-dodging dirtbags will have a little more trouble falling asleep tonight, and that’s a great thing for a great country.

As for Kyrsten Sinema, Steve Schwarzman can have her.”
