Washington, DC – Today, Patriotic Millionaires Chair Morris Pearl will stand alongside Senator Bernie Sanders, President of Our Revolution Jeff Weaver, President of Demand Progress Kurt Walters, and others at a rally to protest President Trump’s nomination of Jay Clayton as head of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Clayton prospered from the 2008 financial crisis by avoiding accountability and taking government bailout money – taxpayers’ hard-earned money – to pad the already exorbitant profits of top bank executives. The head of the SEC should be someone who is fit to protect regular Americans from being taken advantage of by Wall Street banks, not someone whose qualifying experience is defined by exploiting Americans for the benefit of Wall Street oligarchs.
